An auntie's experience of Oxford University Hospitals Maternity Services in 2023:
My Niece died before she was born due to failings at the John Radcliffe. I myself, as a midwife (in a different hospital), was concerned about my sister’s care and I phoned up on her behalf 4 days before she died.
I told the midwife I was concerned that national guidance was not being followed. I was not listened to and ignored.
I am severely worried about the culture within OUH maternity services, that women’s concerns and worries can be so dismissed that babies are dying preventable deaths when myself and my sister were telling them the care was not correct.
Staff at OUH need to stand up and start talking about the care that is going on and push for change.
Our lives have been ruined and my children will never get to grow up with their cousin. We are devastated and something needs to change.
