A mother’s experience of Oxford University Hospitals Maternity Services in 2017:

I had a massive internal bleed after an emergency C-section where I had to have a huge blood transfusion to keep me alive while the internal bleed stopped itself - they, in their own words, "would have killed" me if they'd tried to operate to fix the bleed, at that point as I'd lost so much blood before they realised what was happening. And that's only part of it!
