"my son died as he was starved of oxygen which they knew about due to a deteriorating umbilical cord"

A mother’s experience of Oxford University Hospitals Maternity Services in 2013/14:

I was treated as a nobody because I was a “young mum” 21 at the time.

I had countless emails to and from multiple members of staff as I felt something wasn’t quite right. It was passed off to being a first time nervous mum.

I had reduced fetal movement but was told I needed to wait as it was Christmas and they were “skeleton staffed” unfortunately my son died as he was starved of oxygen which they knew about due to a deteriorating umbilical cord.

I went into hospital for an emergency c section which they then let 2 elective sections go before me.

I’m returned to my 4 bedded bay with other women and their babies, the midwife left my curtain open it was awful.

When I was moved to a room they left a bounty new baby welcome pack on my bed.

Then they admitted liability for the result in my sons outcome. The whole experience was awful.

I have gone on to have 2 other pregnancies which were both very different and again both had positive and negatives.
