A mother’s experience of Oxford University Hospitals Maternity Services in 2006:
I lost 2 babies in the JR in 2006, both babies died after they were born in separate pregnancies.
My son survived for nearly 4 hrs, they said he had no hope and would pass away after 5 minutes after being just under 24 weeks. After 2hrs they went to certify him as having passed away to then look at me and apologise to say he was still alive and I said to just pass him back to me. [son’s name] survived for nearly 2 hrs further.
When my daughter was born at the end of the year, I said that by 14 weeks I was having the same symptoms as my first pregnancy. I was told that it was just because of what happened last time – I said I was not that person. By 17 weeks they said it was the same.
My waters broke at nearly 27 weeks. I said I would not go into labour for another 5 days as everything had been mirrored. I was not listened to and sure enough 5 days later labour started, although I was told she was perfect within a couple of hours she had sepsis, from my waters going 5 days earlier.
